Dimuthu Ethugala Honoured with the Outstanding Global Achiever Award at CA Sri Lanka’s National Conference
Sri Lankan Chartered Accountant and entrepreneur Dimuthu Ethugala has been honoured with the Outstanding Global Achiever of the Year 2026 award by the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka (CA Sri Lanka), in recognition of his international professional accomplishments, entrepreneurial leadership and contributions to the accounting profession.

The award was presented on 8 October at the 47th National Conference of Chartered Accountants, held at Monarch Imperial in Sri Jayawardenepura Kotte.

Sri Lankan accounting professionals have long established successful careers in international organisations and overseas markets. Ethugala’s journey represents a further step in this legacy, demonstrating how local professional expertise can be transformed into an internationally competitive business.

Ethugala began his professional career at BDO Sri Lanka before moving to KPMG in Kuwait, where he gained valuable international experience. His career subsequently took an entrepreneurial direction, driven by the ambition to build a professional services business with a global reach.

In 2017, he partnered with fellow Chartered Accountants Sujeewa Appuhami and Jude Paththamperume to establish Crevaty. The founders combined their expertise in strategy, corporate leadership and business development to create a business rooted in Sri Lankan talent while serving international markets. Appuhami provided strategic direction, while Paththamperume contributed extensive corporate management experience and played a key role in establishing the Sri Lankan operation. Ethugala focused on business development and strengthening the company’s brand.

Nearly a decade later, Crevaty has expanded its operations across Kuwait, the UAE, Singapore, the United Kingdom and Canada, supported by service delivery and talent development operations in Sri Lanka. Initially focused on accounting, taxation and business advisory services, the company has since evolved into a broader professional services provider serving clients across international markets.

Crevaty currently employs approximately 45 full-time professionals and generates annual revenue of around LKR 500 million. Its growth highlights the potential for Sri Lankan professionals to move beyond traditional overseas employment and build businesses that compete successfully in the global marketplace.

Reflecting on receiving the award, Ethugala said, “More than an honour, it felt like a responsibility to give back to the profession and community that shaped me.”

His contribution to the accounting profession extends beyond his entrepreneurial achievements. From 2019 to 2023, he served the CA Sri Lanka Kuwait Chapter in several leadership roles, including General Secretary, Vice President and President. During this period, he contributed to strengthening professional networks, promoting knowledge sharing and expanding opportunities for Sri Lankan Chartered Accountants working overseas.

As a Fellow of both CA Sri Lanka and CMA Sri Lanka, Ethugala continues to support the development of emerging professionals through mentoring and by encouraging young accountants to explore career opportunities beyond conventional pathways.

He believes Sri Lankan professionals have the technical expertise required to succeed internationally, while emphasising the importance of communication, adaptability, integrity and confidence in navigating diverse business environments.

Looking ahead, Ethugala aims to further expand Crevaty’s international presence while creating more opportunities for Sri Lankan professionals to contribute to global service delivery.

His recognition at the CA Sri Lanka National Conference underscores the growing potential of Sri Lankan professional talent to make a lasting impact on the international business landscape.
