Maliban Biscuit Manufactories has strengthened its position among Sri Lanka’s leading corporates, rising five places to secure 15th position in LMD’s Most Respected Entities in Sri Lanka 2026 ranking. The company had been ranked 20th in the previous year.
The latest ranking places Maliban among Sri Lanka’s Top 20 most respected entities and reflects its growing standing within the country’s corporate community. The annual ranking is based on the perceptions of senior professionals across Sri Lanka’s business sector, with organisations assessed on factors including leadership, performance and reputation.
The 2026 Most Respected Entities survey was conducted by PepperCube Consultants in partnership with LMD during March and April. The survey received responses from 600 professionals holding managerial positions or above, representing organisations listed on the Colombo Stock Exchange, the LMD 100 for 2024/25 and Brands Annual 2025.
To promote a diverse range of responses and reduce potential organisational bias, the survey limited participation to a maximum of six respondents from any single organisation. Participants were also not permitted to nominate the organisations they themselves worked for.
For the overall Most Respected Entities ranking, respondents were asked to identify three organisations they considered most respected. The ranking was determined using a weighted scoring system, with five points awarded for a first-place nomination, three points for second place and one point for third place. The combined scores were then used to establish the final rankings.
Maliban’s rise from 20th place in 2025 to 15th in 2026 marks a notable five-position improvement in a ranking featuring many of Sri Lanka’s largest and most established corporate organisations.
The recognition adds to Maliban’s corporate legacy spanning more than seven decades in Sri Lanka. Beginning as a home-grown biscuit manufacturer, the company has grown into one of the country’s established food brands, building its reputation around quality, consistency and consumer trust.
NSB Honours Grade 5 Scholarship High Achievers Under Hapan Pranama Programme
National Savings Bank (NSB) recently felicitated the student who secured the highest marks in the Sinhala Medium at the 2026 Grade 5 Scholarship Examination, as part of the Hapan Pranama Scholarship Programme 2026. The felicitation ceremony was held at the NSB Head Office.
The event was attended by NSB Chairman Dr. Harsha Cabral PC, Acting General Manager/CEO Rohana Bandara Weerakoon and members of the Bank’s Corporate Management.
Danoj Theekshana Weerasekara of Ahatuwewa Model Primary School in the Kurunegala District secured first place in the Sinhala Medium at this year’s Grade 5 Scholarship Examination, achieving an outstanding score of 193 marks.
As part of its continued commitment to supporting the educational aspirations of Sri Lankan children, NSB conducts a series of islandwide seminars ahead of the Grade 5 Scholarship Examination each year. These programmes are designed to assist students in preparing for the examination, with the Bank having conducted more than 100 such seminars across the country.
The Hapan Pranama Scholarship Programme goes beyond recognising students solely on the basis of examination results. NSB recognises that every child has a unique journey of growth and achievement. Accordingly, the programme also acknowledges the dedication, courage and perseverance demonstrated by students with special needs, as well as those who faced personal or other challenges while sitting for the examination.
