SriLankan Airlines has partnered with Saudi Arabian low-cost carrier flynas to strengthen air connectivity between Sri Lanka and Saudi Arabia, offering passengers smoother access to both domestic and international destinations.
Announcing the collaboration on social media, SriLankan Airlines said the partnership will improve travel convenience for passengers across all three provinces of the Kingdom while expanding connectivity through an extended network of routes.
The airline noted that the partnership brings the two countries closer through stronger aviation links and enhanced travel opportunities.
Flynas recently launched its inaugural direct service between Riyadh and Al Qaisumah as part of its broader expansion strategy and Saudi Arabia’s National Civil Aviation Strategy objectives.
The collaboration is expected to further enhance travel options for business, tourism, and transit passengers between Sri Lanka and Saudi Arabia.
Sri Lanka travel documentary wins top honour at Global Media Awards 2026 in London
Sri Lanka’s storytelling excellence gained international recognition at the Inspire Global Media Awards 2026 held recently in London, where a Sri Lankan travel documentary produced by Mark Julian Edwards won the prestigious Television Broadcast of the Year award.
The documentary triumphed over entries from major international broadcasters including BBC and Amazon TV, with judges praising its authentic portrayal of human experiences and destination storytelling.
Reflecting on the production, Edwards described Sri Lanka as a place filled with remarkable people and unforgettable stories. He highlighted the country’s wildlife, culture, heritage, cuisine, landscapes, traditions, and the warmth and hospitality of its people as lasting impressions that shaped the documentary.
The project was developed following a familiarisation (FAM) tour organised by the Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau last year for members of the British Guild media delegation. The “Off the Beaten Path” tour brought 34 international journalists to various destinations across Sri Lanka, offering immersive local experiences and exposure to the island’s culture, wildlife, arts, crafts, food, and community life.
The award-winning documentary showcases Sri Lanka through authentic storytelling, highlighting its cultural richness, natural beauty, and human connections while positioning the country as a distinctive and memorable tourism destination on the global stage.
Tourism officials believe the recognition will further strengthen Sri Lanka’s international image and enhance its appeal among global travellers seeking meaningful and experience-driven destinations.
