In a rapidly evolving aviation industry, SriLankan Airlines has significantly boosted revenue through the implementation of an advanced artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML)-powered Origin and Destination (O&D) revenue management system.

The next-generation platform enables the airline to dynamically adjust pricing strategies and optimize seat inventory, while offering real-time availability and more personalised travel experiences.

The AI- and ML-driven system allows SriLankan Airlines to make smarter, data-informed decisions that directly enhance both customer satisfaction and financial performance. By refining pricing models and introducing greater dynamic flexibility, the airline has successfully aligned capacity with demand, resulting in a 3%–5% increase in passenger revenue and an overall 13% revenue growth during the first three quarters of the 2025/26 fiscal year.

The system’s AI models analyse a wide range of variables, allowing the airline to respond quickly to market changes and adjust pricing and inventory strategies in real time. This has led to stronger demand for both economy and premium seating, improving profitability while enhancing service efficiency.

For passengers, the integration of AI into SriLankan Airlines’ operations translates into more flexible pricing, increased flight options, and a smoother booking experience, with fares increasingly tailored to real-time demand and availability.

The benefits of this shift are particularly noticeable in SriLankan Airlines’ long-haul flights. The introduction of PROS Revenue Management Advantage (RMA) and Amadeus Revenue Availability and Active Valuation (RAAV) has helped it create a more dynamic pricing and inventory system strengthening its competitive edge.

SriLankan Airlines’ ability to incorporate these advanced solutions into its global operations has earned it several prestigious awards such as the Growth Catalyst Award at the Outperformer Customer Awards in Las Vegas (2025) and the Silver Award for AI and Data Science at the National Project Management Excellence Awards in Colombo (2025).
