Colombo, 14 September 2026: As Cool Planet celebrates two decades in business, the company is placing the spotlight on the people who have contributed to its growth, recognising long-serving employees with Rs. 1 million in cash prizes each.

The milestone was celebrated at a Staff Night attended by more than 1,500 employees from across the Cool Planet Group, bringing together teams from Cool Planet and its wider retail operations for an evening dedicated to appreciation and recognition.

One of the highlights was a special tribute to employees who have completed 10 years or more with the organisation. The cash awards recognised their longstanding loyalty, dedication and contribution to the company’s journey.

For these employees, the recognition represented more than years of service.

It celebrated the shared experiences, professional development, changing responsibilities and personal growth that have accompanied their time with the organisation.

Speaking at the event, Managing Director Nassre Nazme said:

“Looking back at 20 years, what means the most to us is the people who have stayed with Cool Planet and grown with us over the years.

Some of the employees we recognised tonight have spent more than 10 years of their lives with this company. We have seen them grow, and they have been part of our growth too.

Their dedication and loyalty mean a great deal to us, and we wanted to make this celebration especially meaningful for them.

As part of tonight’s celebration, we are pleased to recognise our long-serving employees with Rs. 1 million in cash prizes. More than anything, we hope they feel how much their contribution and the years they have given to Cool Planet are truly appreciated.”

The event also celebrated achievements across the wider organisation, with more than 100 awards presented across various employee recognition categories.

These awards acknowledged individual and team contributions in sales, retail operations, customer service, leadership, performance and other key areas of the business.

Cool Planet began its journey in 2006 with a single store and a team of just 17 employees.

Since then, the organisation has expanded to 15 stores across Sri Lanka, with a workforce of more than 1,500 people.

While these figures demonstrate the scale of the company’s growth, its employees remain central to the story.

Long-serving team members have witnessed and helped shape the organisation’s transformation, while newer employees bring fresh perspectives and energy to its continued development.

The Staff Night brought together employees from different stages of the company’s journey, celebrating both longstanding commitment and achievements across the organisation.

As Cool Planet moves into its next chapter, the anniversary serves as a reminder of the people behind its stores, customer experiences and business milestones, and the lasting contribution they make to the company’s continued growth.
