British Council Sri Lanka recently hosted the IELTS Partner Meet 2026 to recognise and celebrate the dedication and contribution of its valued partners over the past year.
As one of the world’s leading English language proficiency tests, IELTS is accepted by more than 12,500 institutions worldwide, serving as an important gateway for students and professionals pursuing higher education, career advancement and migration opportunities abroad.
Through the continued support of its partner network, the British Council has helped students, parents and professionals successfully navigate their overseas education and travel plans. In addition to facilitating IELTS registrations, partners have played a key role in supporting candidates with preparation and guidance to help them achieve their desired scores.
The British Council also highlighted the importance of strengthening collaboration with partners, particularly following the transition of IELTS to a fully computer-delivered format last year. The move has provided candidates with greater flexibility and convenience, while the British Council has continued to support its delivery partners throughout the transition process.
Speaking at the event, Duncan Wilson emphasised the importance of maintaining quality in an increasingly competitive education market, noting that strong partnerships and quality-focused offerings remain essential to staying ahead.
The British Council currently operates nine modern IELTS test centres across Sri Lanka, offering candidates accessible and convenient testing facilities. Developed and maintained by University of Cambridge experts, IELTS continues to evolve to meet global standards, with the British Council overseeing test delivery worldwide.
The event also featured a panel discussion where speakers encouraged candidates to allow sufficient preparation time before booking their tests, stressing the importance of improving overall English fluency and accuracy alongside regular test practice.
The evening concluded with the presentation of awards to top-performing partners across several categories. Bronze Tier Awards were presented to Headway School of Languages, DMI Computer Education, Australian College of Business & Technology and British Win Academy, while the Silver Tier Award was presented to Nations Victory Campus.
