Yi Jing at ITC Ratnadipa has unveiled Dim Sum & Co., a first-of-its-kind curated dim sum dining experience in Colombo, available for a limited period from June 26 to July 5.

The exclusive culinary showcase features a specially curated selection of handcrafted dim sum served during both lunch and dinner, complemented by signature cocktails carefully created to enhance the flavours of each dish. Designed by Yi Jing's expert mixologist, the beverage programme has been crafted to perfectly match the restaurant's refined menu.

With growing interest among younger diners in authentic global cuisines and immersive food experiences, regional Chinese cuisine has gained increasing popularity in Sri Lanka. Dim Sum & Co. celebrates this trend by showcasing the rich traditions, distinctive flavours and communal dining culture that define Chinese gastronomy.

Inspired by the historic tea houses that flourished along ancient trade routes, dim sum originated as small, shareable delicacies enjoyed over tea, encouraging conversation and togetherness. Rooted in this Cantonese tea-house heritage, Yi Jing's latest offering blends time-honoured culinary craftsmanship with contemporary interpretations designed to suit Colombo's evolving dining scene.

"Dim sum is a cuisine that demands both patience and precision, where every fold, filling and flavour has a purpose," said Chef Prithvi. "With this menu, we wanted to go beyond familiarity and introduce guests to both authentic techniques and modern interpretations that reflect Yi Jing's culinary philosophy. The result is a collection that is both respectful of its origins and exciting for today's diner."

Through Dim Sum & Co., ITC Ratnadipa further reinforces its reputation as one of Colombo's leading destinations for immersive, culture-inspired dining experiences, bringing together authentic global traditions, premium ingredients, exceptional craftsmanship and world-class hospitality.
Government Targets Fivefold Expansion of Digital Economy to Reach USD 15 Billion by 2030
Sri Lanka is aiming for a fivefold expansion of its digital economy, growing from its current estimated value of USD 3–4 billion to USD 15 billion by 2030, while increasing the digital sector’s contribution to the national economy from around 3–4% to approximately 12%, according to Dr. Hans Wijayasuriya, Chief Advisor to the President on Digital Economy.

Speaking at the Grounded Sovereign Cloud Symposium 2026 held in Colombo on June 17, Dr. Wijayasuriya highlighted the government’s vision of developing a multi-cloud hybrid ecosystem that integrates public and sovereign cloud infrastructures to accelerate digital transformation and economic growth.

He noted that while Sri Lanka has made significant progress in digital transformation compared to regional and broader Asia-Pacific counterparts in several areas, challenges remain, particularly in system interoperability. The introduction of horizontal digital layers, he said, would enable seamless data sharing, reduce duplication of efforts and accelerate the implementation of digital initiatives.

Dr. Wijayasuriya also emphasized the importance of the country’s evolving data governance framework, noting that the implementation of the Personal Data Protection Act and the establishment of the relevant regulatory authority provide flexibility for sector regulators and data controllers to determine appropriate approaches for cross-border data processing, sovereign data environments and cloud adoption.

“Professionals must determine which data requires strict residency or air-gapped environments, which can be handled within sovereign platforms and which can safely move to public cloud infrastructure,” he said, highlighting the need to balance data security, innovation, cost efficiency and technological advancement.

He further explained that while data sovereignty and residency remain important considerations, countries must also recognize the cybersecurity capabilities, innovation potential and global scale offered by international cloud providers. For a smaller nation, building comparable infrastructure independently would be challenging, making a balanced hybrid approach essential.

Dr. Wijayasuriya added that Sri Lanka must continuously evaluate global cybersecurity threats when deciding where different categories of data should be managed. In this context, solutions such as AWS Outposts provide a strategic advantage by combining global cloud capabilities and scalability with localized sovereign infrastructure and control.

The government’s digital economy roadmap aims to create a secure, interoperable and innovation-driven digital ecosystem that can support Sri Lanka’s ambition of becoming a digitally empowered economy by 2030.
