LankaPay (Private) Limited has launched the eMudhra e-Sign Remote Digital Signature solution with LankaSign, in collaboration with eMudhra Limited, marking a significant step in Sri Lanka’s digital transformation journey.

The initiative was officially introduced on May 22, 2026, in Colombo, with Commercial Bank of Ceylon PLC becoming the first bank in the country to be onboarded to the platform. The bank’s participation further strengthens its position as a leader in introducing advanced digital solutions to improve customer experience and operational efficiency.

eMudhra Limited, a global provider of digital trust services, specializes in secure digital signatures, authentication frameworks, and certificate-based solutions. The collaboration integrates eMudhra’s Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) expertise with LankaSign’s role as Sri Lanka’s only commercially operating Certification Service Provider, which enables legally recognized digital signatures across banking, corporate, and government sectors.

The combined solution delivers a secure, scalable remote signing system tailored for Sri Lanka’s regulatory and digital environment. It enables users to sign documents remotely using LankaSign certificates and eMudhra’s emSigner platform, removing the need for physical paperwork, in-person verification, and manual signatures.

The system allows documents to be signed anytime and anywhere through a fully digital workflow, improving speed, convenience, and operational efficiency while reducing administrative costs associated with printing, scanning, and courier services.

For Commercial Bank of Ceylon PLC, the integration enables faster onboarding, enhanced digital banking services, and a seamless, legally compliant remote signing experience for customers, further advancing Sri Lanka’s broader digital economy agenda.
Bag.lk responds to rising demand for authentic premium luggage in Sri Lanka
Bag.lk, Sri Lanka’s largest premium luggage retailer, says it is responding to a clear shift in consumer demand toward authentic, durable, and high-quality travel luggage as the country’s travel activity continues to recover and grow.

The retailer notes that the local luggage market has undergone a major transformation, with increasing concerns over counterfeit products and low-quality imports. Issues such as weak wheel systems, poor materials, and limited durability have made consumers more cautious and quality-focused when purchasing luggage.

As a result, buyers are moving away from choosing low-cost, short-term options and instead prioritising authentic premium luggage with warranties, brand assurance, and reliable after-sales support. This shift reflects a broader trend of consumers opting for fewer but higher-quality purchases, including complete luggage sets.

Bag.lk states that its curated collection focuses on internationally recognised premium brands, offering hard-shell and soft-shell suitcases, zipperless designs, and various size options suited for both short and long-haul travel. The retailer also highlights its quality control processes and emphasis on ensuring product authenticity before items reach customers.

The company adds that warranties—especially internationally valid coverage—have become a key decision-making factor for travellers, along with after-sales support that helps protect against common travel-related damage and maintenance issues.

According to the company’s Director, modern consumers are now more informed and selective, seeking products that combine durability, functionality, and long-term value. Bag.lk says its goal is to meet this demand through carefully selected premium luggage solutions tailored for today’s travellers.
