Sri Lanka and Belarus have taken steps to deepen economic relations during a Business Round Table organised by the Belarus National Export Promotion Centre, focusing on expanding cooperation in trade, investment, and tourism.

The Sri Lankan delegation was led by Foreign Affairs Minister Vijitha Herath, who said discussions centred on creating new opportunities for bilateral economic engagement between the two countries.

The Belarus side was represented by Deputy Minister of Industry Leonid Ryzhkovchits and Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Food Aleksandr Yakovchits, along with a high-level business delegation that included officials from the National Tourism Agency, national carrier Belavia, and several leading travel companies.

Sri Lankan participants from the pharmaceutical, education, and tourism sectors also joined the discussions, exploring potential export opportunities, partnerships, and joint ventures aimed at strengthening commercial ties.

The engagement reflects both countries’ interest in expanding economic cooperation beyond traditional sectors, with particular emphasis on boosting tourism flows and improving market access for businesses on both sides.
SLAAPS Fellowship Night 2026 brings members together for annual event
The Sri Lanka Association of Administrative and Professional Secretaries (Sri Lanka Association of Administrative and Professional Secretaries) hosted its Secretaries’ Fellowship Night 2026 recently at the Victorian Hall of The Kingsbury, Colombo, in celebration of International Administrative Professionals Week.

Held under the theme “Walk It Like You Talk It – A Trailblazing Experience,” the event focused on leadership, action, and professional growth among administrative professionals.

The occasion was graced by New Zealand High Commissioner David Pine, adding diplomatic significance and highlighting the growing recognition of administrative professionals in modern workplaces.

A key highlight of the evening was a panel-style talk show featuring Dr. Sulochana Sigera, Adhisha Dahanayake, and Ravi Uduwela, who shared insights from their professional journeys and encouraged participants to turn ambition into meaningful action and purposeful leadership.

The event also underscored SLAAPS’s commitment to talent development, with a scholarship awarded to a young professional to pursue a Diploma in English, supporting her career advancement.

Beyond the formal programme, the fellowship night served as a networking platform, bringing together professionals to exchange ideas, experiences, and opportunities in a collaborative setting.
