Users of Unifi in Bintangor, Sarawak, are currently experiencing internet disruptions, with some reporting reduced connection performance and slower-than-usual speeds.
According to Unifi Alerts, the issue is expected to be resolved by today. Telekom Malaysia has attributed the disruption to a cut fibre optic cable, which has also affected internet connectivity in several other states including Kedah, Perlis, Sabah, and Johor.
The operator is targeting a full restoration of services by 6pm today. While some of the affected regions have already seen recovery, users in remaining areas are still experiencing intermittent connectivity issues.
At present, no further technical details have been released, and users are advised to await further updates from Unifi regarding full restoration progress.
Astro refreshes Astro One bundles, starting from RM74.90
Astro Malaysia Holdings has announced refreshed Astro One packages, introducing lower promotional pricing along with expanded streaming and entertainment benefits for both new and existing subscribers.
Beginning 1 May 2026, customers can subscribe to the Astro One Entertainment Pack from RM74.90, while the Astro One Sports Pack is priced from RM94.90. Both bundles include access to Netflix, Astro GO streaming on up to two devices simultaneously, and complimentary access to the newly introduced Blockbuster Pack for 24 months.
The Blockbuster Pack adds four new channels — Astro Showtime, Astro FAM Time, Rock Action, and Rock X Stream — further expanding Astro’s entertainment lineup. Customers opting for Plug and Play installation will receive free setup, while standard installation is charged at RM50. All prices exclude SST.
The refreshed bundles come at a time of increased competition in Malaysia’s pay-TV and streaming landscape. Earlier this month, Astro lost the broadcasting rights for the FIFA World Cup 2026 after two decades, with Radio Televisyen Malaysia and Unifi TV confirmed as the official broadcasters.
In another recent development, RTM channels including TV1 HD, TV2 HD, and Okey are set to exit Astro from 1 July 2026 following the end of a long-running partnership, reportedly due to rising costs and failure to reach a revised agreement.
Customers can subscribe to the new Astro One bundles via Astro Authorised Experience Partners, Premium Kiosks, mobile booths, or through Astro’s sales channels, as well as via phone or WhatsApp at +60 3 9543 3838.
