The DENZA B8 has officially been launched in Malaysia, marking the brand’s entry into the luxury electric off-road SUV segment. It also becomes DENZA’s first plug-in hybrid SUV available in the country. Here’s what you need to know.

Built for serious off-road performance

The DENZA B8 is engineered around three core elements: its platform, intelligent suspension system, and premium cabin design, all aimed at delivering a balanced driving experience.

It combines a 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine with two electric motors and BYD’s Blade Battery technology. This setup is supported by the DMO system, designed specifically to deliver strong off-road capability while still maintaining fuel efficiency and everyday comfort.

Together, the system produces up to 450kW of power and 760Nm of torque. The SUV also offers up to 115km of pure electric range and a combined driving range of up to 1,040km (NEDC cycle). Drivers can switch between multiple modes, including Pure EV, HEV Series, and Parallel Mode, which automatically adapt based on driving conditions.

Advanced suspension and driving comfort

The B8 is equipped with the DiSus-P intelligent suspension system, which actively adjusts ride height and damping in real time. This helps improve stability during cornering, uneven terrain, and off-road driving situations, enhancing both comfort and control.

Design and interior highlights

The exterior design follows a futuristic “Starship Mecha” theme. It features “Starship Wing” LED daytime running lights and “Energy Thruster” inspired taillights, giving the SUV a bold and aggressive appearance.

Inside, the focus is on luxury and comfort. The Premium variant includes Nappa leather upholstery, while all versions come with a high-end 18-speaker premium audio system.

Public showcase

The DENZA B8 will make its first public appearance at a preview event in Kuala Lumpur, held from 22 to 24 May 2026 at Bangsar Shopping Centre. The event will run daily from 10am to 10pm.
Sony has teased the upcoming launch of its next flagship smartphone, the Xperia 1 VIII, which is set to be unveiled on 13 May 2026
Sony Xperia Japan has officially teased a new Xperia product announcement scheduled for 13 May 2026, using the hashtag “#NextXperia” ahead of the launch event. Although Sony has not confirmed the official name, industry leaks and reports strongly suggest that the upcoming device will be the Sony Xperia 1 VIII, the company’s next-generation flagship smartphone.

Major design changes expected for Xperia 1 VIII

One of the most discussed updates is the redesigned camera module. Based on teaser visuals and leaked renders, Sony appears to be moving away from the traditional vertical camera layout seen on earlier Xperia 1 models. Instead, the Xperia 1 VIII is expected to feature a new square-style camera island, marking a significant design shift for the series.

Leaks also suggest new colour options such as Graphite Black, Garnet Red, Iolite Silver, and Natural Gold, indicating a more expressive and premium design direction. On the performance side, the device is widely expected to feature Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset, positioning it among the top-tier Android flagships of 2026.

Camera and feature upgrades

Camera improvements are also heavily rumoured, with reports pointing to a triple 48MP camera setup and enhancements inspired by Sony’s Alpha camera technology. However, some leaks indicate that Sony may remove the continuous variable zoom system seen in previous Xperia models.

Despite these changes, Sony is expected to retain several enthusiast-friendly features, including a 3.5mm headphone jack and microSD card support, which remain key selling points for Xperia fans.
