A new leak suggests that Apple’s upcoming iPhone 18 Pro Max could deliver a significant improvement in battery life, but the upgrade may come with a slightly larger and heavier design.
Earlier reports suggested that the iPhone 18 Pro Max would offer only a modest battery improvement compared with the iPhone 17 Pro Max. However, more recent claims indicate that the new flagship could deliver nearly 10% longer battery endurance.
According to leaker Ice Universe, the iPhone 18 Pro Max is expected to feature a 5,500mAh battery, a notable increase from the 5,088mAh battery reportedly found in the iPhone 17 Pro Max.
The leak also claims that the larger battery could result in a heavier device, with the iPhone 18 Pro Max weighing around 240 grams, compared with the previous model’s 233 grams. The device is also expected to become slightly thicker, increasing from 8.75mm to 9mm in depth.
This is not the first report suggesting that the iPhone 18 Pro Max may adopt a thicker design. However, the latest leak specifically links the increased thickness to accommodating a larger battery rather than only external design changes.
Previous claims from Fixed Focus Digital suggested that the device could feature a larger rear camera platform, contributing to a possible increase in size. However, reports remain inconsistent on whether the change will affect only the camera area or the entire chassis.
As with all pre-release leaks, the exact specifications and dimensions of the iPhone 18 Pro Max remain unconfirmed until Apple officially reveals the device. Apple traditionally does not highlight details such as battery capacity or increased weight in its marketing, instead focusing on improvements in real-world battery performance.
While the final design remains uncertain, Apple is expected to continue prioritising battery improvements in its next-generation flagship, with users likely to weigh the benefits of longer endurance against any potential increase in size and weight.
$30 Billion Broadcom Chip Deal Becomes Apple’s Largest AMP Fund Investment
Apple has announced a new multi-year agreement with Broadcom for the development and supply of custom chips and advanced wireless components, with the deal expected to exceed $30 billion over time.
The agreement represents the largest single-company commitment made through Apple’s American Manufacturing Program (AMP) and strengthens the technology giant’s push to expand domestic manufacturing and semiconductor production in the United States.
Broadcom confirmed that it will extend its partnership with Apple by developing and supplying custom silicon components and advanced wireless connectivity technologies through 2031. Apple said the collaboration will support the production of more than 15 billion chips in the United States while creating and supporting hundreds of jobs.
The partnership will also include an expansion of Broadcom’s existing manufacturing capabilities, including a planned $1.5 billion capital investment in the company’s Fort Collins, Colorado facility. The investment will support the expansion and modernisation of the manufacturing site, where advanced radio frequency components, including Film Bulk Acoustic Resonator (FBAR) filters, will be produced.
Apple highlighted the agreement as a major step in strengthening its US-based supply chain and supporting innovation within the domestic manufacturing ecosystem.
