A new research report suggests Apple’s first OLED MacBook Pro could arrive weeks or even months earlier than timelines previously shared by more established leakers.
Rumors about Apple’s long-anticipated OLED MacBook have circulated for years, with varying release windows. Recent estimates have generally converged on a launch between October 2026, according to older reports, and early 2027 in newer projections.
However, research firm Omdia now claims Apple may be preparing to launch the device sooner than expected. In its report on OLED display demand, the firm suggests the new premium laptop could debut in the third quarter of 2026.
If accurate, that would place a potential launch as early as July 2026, although that scenario appears highly unlikely.
A more realistic timeframe would be around September 2026 at the earliest. However, September is typically reserved for Apple’s iPhone and Apple Watch launches, raising questions about whether Apple would introduce a major new MacBook model in the same period.
The report also contradicts earlier claims. In April 2026, one report suggested the OLED MacBook had been delayed to 2027 due to global RAM and SSD shortages, which have shown little sign of improvement.
Previously, Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman indicated a late 2026 to early 2027 release window, a view that was later echoed in a February 2026 report suggesting the OLED MacBooks would not arrive before the end of the year.
AirPods Max 2 drop to $499 on Amazon, marking their lowest price ever
Despite being released just two months ago, AirPods Max 2 are now available for $499, marking their lowest price to date, with same-day delivery available in select areas.
The deal applies to the Midnight and Starlight color options on Amazon, offering a $50 discount off the recent retail price. The headphones only launched in late March 2026, making this early price drop particularly notable. Depending on location and Prime eligibility, customers may also receive delivery as early as the same day.
AirPods Max 2 key features:
Powered by Apple’s H2 chip
Up to 1.5× improved Active Noise Cancellation compared to the first generation
Transparency Mode
Adaptive EQ
Lossless and ultra-low latency audio via USB-C wired connection (requires supported services)
For buyers looking for a lower price and willing to consider older hardware, the USB-C AirPods Max are also available at $429 from Apple authorized retailers such as B&H Photo, representing a $120 discount from the original price.
Meanwhile, Apple’s AirPods lineup is also seeing discounts, with AirPods 4 and AirPods Pro 3 dropping as low as $99 in select offers.
