As part of its ongoing efforts to position Sri Lanka as a premier destination for international conferences and business events, Cinnamon Hotels & Resorts has formed a strategic partnership with Chef Guild Lanka to jointly pursue the opportunity to host the Worldchefs Congress 2030 in Sri Lanka.
The partnership was unveiled at the launch of Cinnamon Box Office, a new digital platform introduced by Cinnamon Hotels & Resorts to provide seamless access to world-class entertainment, business events, conferences and unique experiences.
The collaboration aligns with Cinnamon Hotels & Resorts’ wider vision of developing an integrated ecosystem to support the growth of Sri Lanka’s Meetings, Incentives, Conferences and Exhibitions (MICE) industry. It also aims to strengthen the country’s position and competitiveness as a destination for major global business events.
Over the years, Cinnamon Hotels & Resorts has spearheaded several strategic initiatives aimed at enhancing Sri Lanka’s ability to compete for and secure international conferences. Among these is the Sri Lanka Conference Ambassador Programme (SLCAP), launched in partnership with the Sri Lanka Convention Bureau (SLCB) and SriLankan Airlines.
The programme brings together local experts, industry leaders and professional associations to help attract prestigious international conferences and events to Sri Lanka.
Supported by strategic collaborations across both the public and private sectors, along with the development of dedicated platforms such as Cinnamon Box Office, these initiatives are helping build a stronger ecosystem for securing global business events and further establishing Sri Lanka as a competitive international conference destination.
Former CIMA Global President Aubrey Joachim Appointed Non-Executive Director at Nanaska
Nanaska, one of Sri Lanka’s leading professional education institutes specialising in the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA) qualification, has appointed Aubrey Joachim, FCMA, CGMA, MBA, to its Board as a Non-Executive Director.
Aubrey brings with him extensive international experience spanning finance leadership, consulting, professional development and finance function transformation. He previously served as Global President of CIMA from 2009 to 2010, becoming the first individual from outside the United Kingdom and Ireland to lead the organisation during its then 90-year history.
With a career spanning more than three decades, Aubrey has held senior finance positions and worked with organisations and finance professionals across a range of international markets.
Through his consulting and professional development work, he has gained significant expertise in finance transformation, strategic management accounting, business partnering, forecasting, data and analytics, as well as developing the next generation of finance leaders.
Aubrey has also been an active voice on the impact of technological advancement on the finance profession, with a particular focus on artificial intelligence, automation, analytics and digital disruption, and the evolving capabilities required of finance professionals and business leaders.
His appointment further strengthens Nanaska’s Board, joining fellow Non-Executive Directors Arj Wignaraja and Niranjan Wijesekera. The addition of his expertise brings valuable international experience in finance, professional education and CIMA leadership to support Nanaska’s future growth and strategic direction.
