DIMO, the sole authorised distributor of TATA vehicles in Sri Lanka, has facilitated the delivery of 134 TATA Xenon Yodha cabs to the Sri Lanka Police, supporting enhanced mobility and public service operations across the Northern Province.
The official handover ceremony was held at the Presidential Secretariat under the patronage of President Anura Kumara Dissanayake. The event was attended by K.M. Ananda Wijepala, Minister of Public Security; Sunil Watagala, Deputy Minister of Public Security; D.W.R.B. Seneviratne, Secretary of the Ministry of Public Security; Priyantha Weerasooriya, Inspector General of Police; and Santosh Jha, High Commissioner of India to Sri Lanka.
Representing DIMO at the event were Executive Director Rajeev Pandithage, Chief Operating Officer – Automotive Engineering Solutions Mahesh Karunaratne, and key representatives from TATA Commercial Vehicle Sales. TATA Motors was represented by Abhijeet Das Sharma, Regional Manager – SAARC, Aleemuddin Sayed, Country Head – Sri Lanka and Bhutan, and Rahib Khan, Deputy General Manager – International Business Sri Lanka and Bhutan.
The vehicle fleet was provided by the Government of India as part of its continued support and cooperation with Sri Lanka, further strengthening the longstanding relationship between the two nations.
The 134 TATA Xenon Yodha cabs will be deployed for Sri Lanka Police operations throughout the Northern Province, supporting patrol activities, community services, personnel transportation, and access to challenging terrains.
Selected for their durability and performance in demanding environments, the TATA Xenon Yodha vehicles were customized to meet the operational requirements of the Sri Lanka Police. The modifications include specially designed canopies and dual longitudinal seating arrangements to support efficient personnel movement.
Commenting on the initiative, DIMO Executive Director Rajeev Pandithage said the company is honoured to contribute to a project that strengthens national service capabilities and public sector mobility.

DIMO managed the project through comprehensive stakeholder coordination, vehicle supply and delivery management, technical preparation, quality assurance, and logistics support, ensuring the smooth and timely deployment of the fleet.
The initiative highlights DIMO’s continued commitment to providing reliable mobility solutions that support critical sectors and contribute to Sri Lanka’s development.
