Sunshine Holdings recently hosted SUN Awards 2026, the Group’s flagship annual employee recognition programme, celebrating outstanding contributions that supported business growth, collaboration, leadership, and organisational transformation during the financial year 2025/26.

Held under the theme ‘Reimagine the Future’, the event brought together employees from Sunshine Holdings’ key business sectors, including healthcare, consumer goods, and agribusiness. The awards recognised individuals and teams who demonstrated exceptional performance, agility, teamwork, and commitment towards building a future-ready organisation.

The theme reflected Sunshine’s continued focus on embracing innovation, strengthening leadership capabilities, enhancing organisational agility, and creating sustainable value for customers, stakeholders, and communities.

The ceremony was attended by Sunshine Holdings Group Chief Executive Officer Shyam Sathasivam, members of the Group Executive Committee, and senior leaders from across the organisation.

A total of 169 awards were presented during the event, including Merit Awards, Excellence Awards, and Chairman’s Awards, recognising outstanding achievements across multiple disciplines. The awards highlighted the diverse talent, dedication, and capabilities that continue to drive Sunshine Holdings’ growth and success.

The Group also honoured employees who reached significant career milestones, presenting 119 long-service awards to team members who have contributed between 10 and 25 years of service. These recognitions reflected Sunshine’s appreciation for employee loyalty, commitment, and the valuable experience that continues to strengthen the organisation.

Commenting at the event, Sunshine Holdings Group CEO Shyam Sathasivam said the SUN Awards represent more than recognition of achievements, celebrating the resilience, mindset, and dedication that propel the Group forward.

He noted that as the organisation continues to navigate a rapidly evolving environment, innovation, collaboration, and the willingness to embrace new ideas will remain essential to shaping Sunshine’s future.

The celebration also featured the Shine Awards, a special recognition category honouring employees who have contributed towards creating a more positive, supportive, and engaging workplace culture beyond their core responsibilities.

Through initiatives such as SUN Awards, Sunshine Holdings continues to reinforce its commitment to recognising talent, encouraging excellence, and fostering a culture that empowers employees to contribute towards the Group’s long-term vision.
National Chamber of Exporters opens applications for 34th NCE Export Awards
The National Chamber of Exporters of Sri Lanka (NCE) has officially opened applications for the 34th NCE Export Awards, the Chamber’s flagship event and the country’s longest-running recognition programme dedicated to celebrating excellence in the export sector.

The announcement was made at a launch event held at the Mandarina Hotel, with applications open until September 30. The prestigious awards ceremony is scheduled to take place on December 11 at the Main Ballroom of the Shangri-La Hotel, Colombo.

Delivering the welcome address, NCE President Indhra Kaushal Rajapaksa highlighted the significance of the awards programme, which has maintained an uninterrupted 34-year legacy since its inception despite major challenges including the tsunami, Easter Sunday attacks, the COVID-19 pandemic, and other economic disruptions faced by the export community.

He noted that the NCE Export Awards represent more than a recognition ceremony, serving as a national platform to honour, motivate, and celebrate the achievements of Sri Lankan exporters who contribute significantly towards the country’s economic progress.

Sri Lanka’s export sector has continued to demonstrate resilience, with export earnings for the first five months of 2026 reaching nearly US$7.4 billion, comprising US$5.76 billion in merchandise exports and US$1.63 billion in services exports. This represents growth of more than 7% compared to the corresponding period of the previous year.

Rajapaksa stated that the latest performance aligns with the government’s ambitious target of achieving approximately US$19 billion in export earnings in 2026 under the National Export Development Strategy 2026–2030.

Against this backdrop, he encouraged exporters, including both NCE members and non-members, to participate in the awards programme, noting that an NCE Export Award has become a symbol of excellence, credibility, and international recognition for Sri Lankan businesses.

NCE Secretary General and Chief Executive Officer Shiham Marikar outlined the evaluation process, which assesses companies based on financial performance, export achievements, market expansion, branding, ethical business practices, governance standards, and human resource development.

The judging criteria will also place special emphasis on innovation, value addition, and research and development initiatives, recognising exporters that demonstrate forward-thinking strategies and sustainable growth.
