The Market Research Society of Sri Lanka (MRSSL) has re-elected Suthaharan Perampalam as President for a second consecutive term at its 13th Annual General Meeting, where the Society also appointed its Executive Committee for the 2026 term.

Accepting the appointment, Suthaharan thanked the Society's members and Executive Committee for their continued confidence and support, acknowledging their collective efforts in delivering a successful year for the organisation.

He highlighted the increasing importance of data, consumer insights and evidence-based decision-making in today's business landscape, noting that while technology continues to reshape the market research industry, understanding consumer behaviour and perspectives remains at the heart of the profession.

"At this important juncture, we must continue to strengthen our profession by upholding high standards and creating meaningful value for all our members," he said.

Looking ahead, Suthaharan outlined plans to strengthen collaboration with research agencies and industry stakeholders while expanding knowledge-sharing opportunities and professional development programmes to support the evolving needs of Sri Lanka's market research sector.

During the Annual General Meeting, MRSSL also announced changes to its Board of Directors, welcoming Neomal Marambe of Quantum Research and Suresh Jayaweera of Breakthrough Intelligence as new Board members. The Society also expressed its appreciation to outgoing Directors Roshani Fernando and Dilini Jayasuriya for their dedicated service and valuable contributions to the organisation.
Sri Lanka Expo 2027 Opens Exhibitor Registration Until 31 July 2026
The Sri Lanka Export Development Board (EDB), in collaboration with the Ministry of Industry and Entrepreneurship Development (MOI&ED), has announced that online exhibitor registration for Sri Lanka Expo 2027 will remain open until 31 July 2026, giving more Sri Lankan exporters and export-oriented businesses the opportunity to participate in the country's flagship international trade exhibition.

Scheduled to take place from 14 to 17 January 2027 at the Bandaranaike Memorial International Conference Hall (BMICH) in Colombo, Sri Lanka Expo 2027 aims to showcase the country's export capabilities while strengthening international trade partnerships and attracting global business opportunities.

The exhibition is expected to bring together more than 1,500 international buyers and investors, providing exhibitors with valuable opportunities to showcase their products and services while participating in pre-arranged business meetings with prospective overseas partners.

A total of 650 exhibition booths have been allocated for Sri Lankan exporters and export-potential companies representing 25 industry sectors, reflecting the breadth and diversity of the country's export economy.

The industrial product segment will feature industries including apparel, textiles and fashion, rubber, plastics and chemicals, gems and jewellery, engineering and automotive components, boat and shipbuilding, marine services, electrical and electronic products, minerals and mineral-based products, giftware, lifestyle products, handicrafts, pharmaceutical and medical devices, as well as printing and packaging.

The agriculture sector will showcase Sri Lanka's renowned tea, spices and concentrates, coconut-based products, seafood, processed food and beverages, Ayurveda, herbal and cosmetic products, cut flowers and foliage, ornamental fish, along with fresh fruits and vegetables.

The exhibition will also highlight Sri Lanka's growing export services sector, including information and communication technology (ICT) and business process management (BPM), tourism, logistics, construction, renewable energy, wellness and healthcare services, together with a range of other professional services.

Sri Lanka Expo 2027 is expected to serve as a key platform for expanding export opportunities, attracting international investment and strengthening Sri Lanka's position in global markets.
