Karma Fight League (KFL), Sri Lanka’s largest combat sports property, is expanding beyond the island with plans to launch its amateur qualifying series, Road to KFL (RKFL), in India, Pakistan and Nepal during November and December 2026.
The expansion follows nine successful events held in Colombo, most recently KFL 9 on 12 September at the Sri Lanka Exhibition and Convention Centre (SLECC). All nine bouts on the latest fight card featured international match-ups involving athletes from Sri Lanka, India, Pakistan and Nepal, including two women’s contests. The event attracted more than 3,000 spectators in person, while hundreds of thousands more followed the action through digital platforms.
In the headline bout, India’s Fahad Zedan defeated Sri Lanka’s Januka Ranaweera to claim the KFL World Light Welterweight Championship. Zedan became the league’s third titleholder, following Sri Lanka’s Kavindu Rasanjaya and India’s Sonam Zomba, who is ranked as South Asia’s number one female fighter.
Commenting on the league’s regional ambitions, Karma Fight League Chairman Raveen Wickramasinghe said the expansion of Road to KFL into India, Pakistan and Nepal would help establish a broader South Asian combat sports platform with international reach.
Corporate partnerships have also supported the league’s development. Ruhunu Hospital, described as the largest private healthcare provider in Sri Lanka’s Southern Province, served as the title sponsor of KFL 9 under a multi-event partnership that includes medical support for athletes and event safety.
Dr. Hasara Kulatunga, Assistant Medical Director of Ruhunu Hospital, said the partnership reflects the hospital’s commitment to bringing professional healthcare standards into sports. He added that working with KFL provides an opportunity to support the development of combat sports in Sri Lanka while helping ensure athletes have access to appropriate medical coverage and a professional competition environment.
Multilac Supports Colombo Municipal Council’s Day Care Centre Through Children’s Day Initiative
Multilac has strengthened its commitment to child welfare and community development by completing a series of facility improvements at the Colombo Municipal Council Day Care Centre as part of a corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiative commemorated on Children’s Day.
Carried out in collaboration with the Colombo Municipal Council, the project aimed to create a safer, more comfortable and child-friendly environment for the children attending the centre.
As part of the initiative, Multilac donated essential items to support the children’s comfort, hygiene, safety and recreational needs. The company also provided paint to refresh the centre’s interior and furniture, including desks and chairs, helping improve the overall appearance of the facility.
Adding further colour and vibrancy to the premises, the Multilac team completed a colourful mural on the exterior of the building, creating a more welcoming atmosphere for the children.
The occasion was marked by a special programme presented by the children, who expressed their appreciation for the support extended by Multilac.
Representatives of Multilac and the Deputy Mayor of the Colombo Municipal Council ceremonially opened the upgraded centre, marking the completion of the improvements.
Through this initiative, Multilac continues to demonstrate its commitment to supporting children’s well-being and contributing to meaningful community development through practical, community-focused projects.
