Sarvodaya Development Finance PLC (SDF) has further strengthened its commitment to employee learning and leadership development by providing a group of high-performing employees with an international learning and development experience in Thailand.

The initiative combined professional exposure, knowledge sharing and reflective leadership development, while recognising employees who have demonstrated strong performance and potential. Through exposure to international business practices, new perspectives and diverse approaches to leadership, participants were encouraged to broaden their thinking and translate their learnings into meaningful outcomes within the organisation.

The programme reflects SDF’s belief that sustainable organisational growth begins with the continuous development of its people. By investing in employees who demonstrate excellence and leadership potential, the company aims to foster a culture centred on continuous learning, innovation, empathy, responsible leadership and high performance.

During the learning journey, participants gained exposure to international practices and perspectives designed to challenge conventional thinking and encourage a more forward-looking approach to business and leadership. The experience also enabled them to reflect on their individual leadership styles, exchange ideas and identify practical insights that could be applied within their respective roles at SDF.

Beyond individual professional development, the initiative supports SDF’s broader objective of strengthening the link between employee capabilities and the quality of service delivered to customers and communities. The company believes that employees equipped with broader perspectives, stronger leadership capabilities and an understanding of evolving business practices are better positioned to respond to customer needs and contribute to meaningful community engagement.

The programme also provided an opportunity to recognise and further motivate employees who consistently demonstrate strong performance, reinforcing a workplace culture where achievements are valued and opportunities for professional growth and progression are actively encouraged.
ABC Trade & Investment Partners with All-China Environment Federation to Advance Sri Lanka’s Green Infrastructure and Investment
ABC Trade & Investments (Pvt) Ltd, a leading Sri Lankan conglomerate with interests in ICT distribution and diversified business sectors, has entered into a strategic Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the All-China Environment Federation (ACEF) to accelerate the development of new-energy, water management and environmental protection projects across Sri Lanka.

The partnership establishes a collaborative framework that brings together advanced Chinese engineering capabilities, equipment, technical expertise and investment resources with ABC Trade & Investments’ local operational strength, market knowledge and project implementation capabilities.

By combining international technology with local expertise and on-the-ground execution, the initiative aims to support Sri Lanka’s long-term environmental and civil infrastructure priorities while developing practical solutions suited to local requirements.

The MoU was signed by Amalrajah Jayaseelan, Director/CEO of ABC Trade & Investment (Pvt) Ltd, and Shi Xiang, Secretary-General of the Belt & Road Eco-Industry Cooperation Working Committee of ACEF. The signing took place during the China–Sri Lanka Environmental & Energy Exchange and Cooperation Meeting at the Nondescripts Cricket Club Grounds in Colombo, held under the theme, “Empower Green Development, Jointly Build a New Pattern of China–Sri Lanka Environmental & Energy Industry.”

Commenting on the partnership, Amalrajah Jayaseelan said, “ACEF gives us access to a wider network of Chinese environmental and engineering capabilities, while we bring an understanding of local requirements, regulations, and implementation realities. Our focus is now on identifying the right technologies, adapting them to local conditions, and developing practical projects that address real needs in water, clean energy, and environmental management.”

The collaboration covers a broad range of environmental applications, with priority areas for immediate project development including integrated urban and rural water supply and drainage systems, domestic sewage treatment upgrades, industrial park wastewater management, village drinking water purification, distributed renewable energy installations, and clean energy systems directly linked to water infrastructure.

The strategic framework also places strong emphasis on long-term technology transfer, localisation and technical capability development. The partnership will facilitate technical seminars, commercial matching programmes, executive business exchanges and site visits to benchmark facilities in China.

These initiatives are expected to provide ABC’s technical teams with opportunities to gain practical exposure to advanced systems and adapt high-efficiency technologies to Sri Lanka’s climate, infrastructure and operational requirements.
