National Tourism Strategic Plan and Global Promotion Roadmap Officially Launched
Sri Lanka yesterday marked a significant milestone in its tourism development agenda with the official launch of two nationally important consultancy assignments supported by the World Bank’s Grant Facility for Project Preparation (GFPP).

The launch was officiated by Prof. Ruwan Ranasinghe, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Employment and Tourism, who highlighted the importance of the initiatives in building a globally competitive, sustainable and resilient tourism sector.

The National Tourism Strategic Planning Consultancy (2026–2031) has been awarded to a joint venture between Aninver Development Partners of Spain and EML Consultants PLC of Sri Lanka. The consultancy will develop a comprehensive strategic framework covering demand and supply analysis, investment requirements, regulatory and institutional assessments, marketing strategy development and a national implementation roadmap.

The Deputy Minister noted that the initiative will serve as the foundation of Sri Lanka’s tourism strategy for the next five years, while ensuring alignment with provincial priorities and national policy objectives. It is also expected to help unlock investment opportunities and strengthen institutional capacity across the sector.

At the same event, the Ministry launched the Global Destination Communication Campaign Road Map Consultancy, led by Skift Inc. of the USA and MTI Consulting of Sri Lanka.

The assignment will develop a five-year global promotional campaign strategy backed by market intelligence, creative direction and a comprehensive campaign management framework.

The consultancy is aimed at modernising Sri Lanka’s international tourism messaging, ensuring that future promotional efforts are insight-driven, internationally benchmarked and reflective of the country’s authentic identity.
