ShowLab Studio is set to usher Sri Lanka’s entertainment and live event industry into a new era centred on precision, integration, and global production standards with the launch of the country’s first purpose-built previsualisation, lighting programming, and show integration facility.

Developed in collaboration with Bling Productions, Eyeon Digital Motion, and D4, ShowLab Studio introduces a new production workflow where entire live experiences can be designed, programmed, tested, and refined before entering an actual venue. The facility incorporates the same technologies used in international touring productions, Broadway, West End theatre, and large-scale arena shows, positioning Sri Lanka’s live production capabilities closer to international benchmarks.

The studio combines expertise from multiple disciplines within the live production industry. Marlon Jesudason, Founder of Bling Productions and Co-Founder of Eyeon Digital Motion, has played a significant role in shaping modern event production standards in Sri Lanka through creative direction and show design. Obed Kushan, Lead Visual Engineer at Eyeon Digital Motion, contributes expertise in LED systems, projection mapping, and visual simulation technologies, while Dhanushka Aruna of D4 brings extensive technical knowledge in lighting systems, effects programming, show control, and live engineering operations.

ShowLab Studio aims to address long-standing industry challenges such as limited rehearsal windows, venue restrictions, and technical unpredictability. By enabling production teams to simulate and test lighting, visuals, audio synchronisation, and show control systems within a controlled environment, the facility is expected to improve production efficiency while reducing both operational risk and overall costs.

The facility is equipped with industry-standard technologies including grandMA3 lighting consoles, real-time 3D visualisation systems, LED and projection simulation tools, and advanced timecode systems with MTC and LTC integration. These tools allow lighting designers, directors, and show producers to programme and synchronise productions with high levels of precision before live execution.

ShowLab Studio is designed to support concerts, theatre productions, touring shows, and corporate events, enabling production designers to create adaptable show files, test complex cue sequences, and maintain consistency across multiple venues.

As the facility begins operations, it signals a broader shift within Sri Lanka’s event production industry, where the focus is increasingly moving from traditional execution toward globally aligned production planning and immersive technical integration.
