Evolution Auto (Pvt) Ltd and Sampath Bank have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to support the adoption of electric vehicles (EVs) in Sri Lanka by combining Evolution Auto’s growing EV portfolio with Sampath Bank’s financial solutions.

The partnership is aimed at providing customers considering electric mobility with suitable financing options, bringing together established players in the automotive and financial sectors with a shared objective of making the transition to sustainable mobility more practical and accessible for Sri Lankan consumers and businesses.

For customers considering an EV, access to the right vehicle is only one part of the ownership decision, with financing also playing an important role in making the transition achievable. Through the partnership, Evolution Auto and Sampath Bank seek to provide customers with a more convenient way to explore EV ownership alongside available financing solutions.

Virann De Zoyza, Group CEO of Evolution Auto (Pvt) Ltd, said, “The next stage of EV adoption in Sri Lanka involves more than just introducing new technologies to the market; it also involves making those technologies simpler for consumers to choose and own. Our partnership with Sampath Bank enables us to meet that requirement from both perspectives, providing customers with access to a growing selection of EVs while establishing workable financing options to support their purchase. This, in our opinion, is a significant step toward making electric mobility more accessible to Sri Lankan individuals, families, and businesses.”

Evolution Auto’s expanding EV portfolio includes internationally recognised brands such as AVATR, IM Motors, XPENG, Riddara, and KYC. Its diverse range caters to the mobility needs of individuals, families and businesses, spanning premium passenger vehicles as well as commercial and utility-focused solutions.
Sathis Abeywickrama Honoured as a ‘Flexo Avenger’ at Flexo Summit Asia in India
Flexiprint (Pvt) Ltd Managing Director Sathis Abeywickrama has been recognised as a ‘Flexo Avenger’ at the Flexo Summit Asia 2026, held recently in Bengaluru, India.

The ‘Flexo Avenger’ recognition is conferred on individuals who have made a significant contribution to the development of flexographic printing. Abeywickrama was featured and honoured during the Summit’s ‘Flexo Avengers: Converters who Changed the Game’ session alongside other leading industry personalities from across the region.

“While being recognised as a Flexo Avenger is indeed an honour and a privilege, it is also an acknowledgement of our continued commitment, innovation and customer focus throughout a successful journey spanning more than four decades. This journey has been marked by significant milestones and dates back to a time when specialised packaging required by Sri Lanka’s export industry, including tea bag tags and labels, had to be sourced from overseas,” said Sathis Abeywickrama, Managing Director of Flexiprint (Pvt) Ltd.

Abeywickrama entered the printing industry in 1978 and established Print USA in 1989 before founding Flexiprint in 1994. The company was established to meet the growing requirements of Sri Lanka’s tea export industry by supplying tea bag tags, tea envelopes, tagged pyramid mesh tea bags and specialty labels.

However, the journey towards fulfilling this need was not without challenges. Abeywickrama identified that traditional flexographic printing methods used solvent- and dye-based inks in tea tag production. Since the tags and packaging are positioned in close proximity to the tea product, this raised concerns regarding food safety.

In response, he began exploring safer and more environmentally friendly alternatives, setting the foundation for further innovation within the company and contributing to the evolution of flexographic printing solutions for the tea and packaging industries.
