KALBE, through its flagship nutritional brand Diabetasol, hosted the Diabetasol High Tea Event on Friday, 27 March 2026, at the Celestine Ballroom, Cinnamon Life.
The event brought together 50 loyal Diabetasol customers alongside representatives from leading media organisations for an evening dedicated to reinforcing a powerful message: a diabetes diagnosis is not the end of an active and fulfilling life, but the beginning of a more mindful and empowered way of living.
Under the theme “Thriving with Diabetes,” the programme aimed to shift the conversation around diabetes from one of restriction to one of empowerment, education, and celebration. Guests were encouraged to see that managing diabetes does not mean sacrificing the joy of food or social connection.
A key highlight of the evening was a moderated expert panel discussion on Balanced Living: Nutrition, mindset, and active wellbeing, featuring insights from both clinical and psychological perspectives.
Registered Dietitian Parami Weerasinghe, Senior Nutritionist at Heracle Care & Wellness, shared evidence-based guidance on blood sugar management. She addressed common misconceptions about sugar and sweeteners, highlighted the importance of low-glycaemic foods, and offered practical advice on portion control and food label reading.
Complementing this, counselling psychologist Anjali Budawatta Jayawardana, a mental health advocate and public speaker, explored the emotional and psychological dimensions of living with a chronic condition. The discussion emphasised how mindset, daily routine, and social support are equally important as diet and medication in effective diabetes management.
“Managing diabetes well is as much a mental discipline as it is a physical one. When patients understand that emotional health and blood sugar management are deeply connected, outcomes improve significantly,” she noted.
Adding a culinary perspective, Guest Chef Nadee Amarasinghe conducted a live cooking demonstration, showcasing how Diabetasol can be incorporated into everyday recipes. She demonstrated how thoughtful ingredient selection and preparation techniques can create meals that are both diabetes-friendly and enjoyable, challenging the misconception that healthy eating must be bland or restrictive.
One of the evening’s most engaging moments was a live dance therapy session led by Nilaksha Prasad, Founder of Shadow Dance Academy. Participants, including loyal Diabetasol customers, took part in rhythmic movement exercises designed to promote physical and emotional wellbeing. Dance therapy, a recognised therapeutic approach, is known to improve insulin sensitivity, support cardiovascular health, and enhance mood and mental wellness.
