Aitken Spence Printing Secures WorldStar Award, Marking Milestone for Sri Lanka’s Offset Printing Industry
Aitken Spence Printing has achieved a historic international milestone by becoming the first and only offset printing company in Sri Lanka to win an award at the WorldStar Awards, organised by the World Packaging Organisation (WPO).

The company received the WorldStar 2026 Award for Packaging Excellence in the Luxury Packaging category, highlighting Sri Lanka’s increasing capabilities in global-standard printing and packaging innovation.

The award ceremony was held in May 2026 in Düsseldorf, alongside Interpack, one of the world’s leading trade fairs for processing and packaging technologies. The event brought together global industry leaders and innovators from across the packaging sector.

The WorldStar Awards are considered among the most prestigious recognitions in the global packaging industry and are open only to winners of recognised national or regional packaging competitions.

The World Packaging Organisation is a non-profit, non-governmental global federation that unites packaging institutes, associations, corporations, and trade organisations worldwide under its mission of “Better quality of life through better packaging for more people.” It currently includes 84 members across 66 countries.

Aitken Spence Printing Director and CEO Deshantha Silva expressed pride in receiving the award, noting that it is the company’s first participation at the WorldStar Awards. He credited the achievement to its adaptive manufacturing model, skilled workforce, advanced technology, process excellence, innovation, and environmentally responsible systems that deliver consistent quality and value.

Aitken Spence PLC Chairperson Stasshani Jayawardena also highlighted that the recognition is a significant milestone not only for the printing division but for Sri Lanka’s broader manufacturing and export sectors.
