Jaffna Hindu College was named among the winners at the regional awards ceremony of the AIA Healthiest Schools Competition, a flagship initiative by AIA Group dedicated to promoting healthier habits among students across the Asia-Pacific region through innovative, school-based projects.

The competition attracted a record number of entries from eight regional markets and recognises schools that demonstrate impactful and creative initiatives in key focus areas including healthy eating, active living, mental wellbeing, and sustainability.

Jaffna Hindu College distinguished itself by winning in the Active Lifestyles Award category, earning recognition for its innovative, community-focused project that introduced a bicycle rental system. The initiative enhanced access to physical activity for students while encouraging healthier and more active lifestyles within the wider community.

Winners of the AIA Healthiest Schools Programme were honoured at a vibrant regional awards ceremony held in Da Nang, Vietnam, where prize money was presented to the respective schools to further support and expand their ongoing health and wellbeing initiatives.
China pledges US$1 million in cash and RMB 10 million in relief supplies to support Sri Lanka.
The Government of China has announced a donation of USD 1 million in cash to support ongoing disaster relief efforts in Sri Lanka.

In addition to the cash contribution, the Chinese Embassy in Sri Lanka confirmed that relief supplies worth RMB 10 million have also been pledged to the country.

The Embassy emphasized that the pledge reflects the strong solidarity of the Chinese people with Sri Lanka during this challenging time.
