Dialog pledges LKR 420 million towards rebuilding Sri Lanka in the aftermath of Cyclone Ditwah
Dialog Axiata PLC, Sri Lanka’s leading connectivity provider, has pledged LKR 420 million in support of the Government’s Rebuilding Sri Lanka initiative to accelerate recovery efforts following Cyclone Ditwah. The contribution will strengthen critical healthcare and education services in affected regions, benefiting communities most impacted by the disaster.
The commitment will support the restoration and upgrading of essential hospital infrastructure, along with the refurbishment of ICT facilities in cyclone-affected schools, implemented in collaboration with relevant government authorities.
The pledge was formalised at a meeting held at the Prime Minister’s Office, attended by Hon. Dr. Harini Amarasuriya, Prime Minister of Sri Lanka; Hon. Dr. Nalinda Jayatissa, Minister of Health and Mass Media; Hon. Eranga Weeraratne, Deputy Minister of Digital Economy; Secretaries to the relevant Ministries; senior government officials; and senior representatives of Dialog. Discussions focused on the collaborative framework for implementing education and healthcare initiatives aligned with national priorities.
Under the healthcare component, Dialog will partner with the Ministry of Health to restore and upgrade key hospital infrastructure at Chilaw District General Hospital, Divisional Hospital Kotmale, Divisional Hospital Madulkele, and Base Hospital Puttalam. In the education sector, Dialog will work with the Ministry of Education to refurbish computer laboratories in over 20 cyclone-affected schools, restoring ICT infrastructure and connectivity to ensure continuity in learning.
