Baby Cheramy, one of Sri Lanka’s most trusted baby care brands, has launched a special initiative in partnership with German Sri Lanka Friendship Hospital as part of its continued commitment to supporting mothers through holistic childcare solutions. The initiative aims to enhance the overall experience of expectant parents and newborn care services at one of the Southern Province’s leading healthcare institutions.
As part of the programme, Baby Cheramy introduced a series of directional and informational signages across the hospital premises to improve accessibility and visitor navigation. Presented in Sinhala, Tamil, and English, the signages provide essential guidance on pregnancy, childbirth, and early childcare, helping parents access important maternal and infant care information more conveniently and confidently.
Extending its support further, Baby Cheramy also commenced a one-year partnership to assist the hospital’s Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) through the donation of newborn diapers. The first phase of the initiative, consisting of a three-month supply of diapers, was officially handed over on January 30, 2026, in the presence of Hospital Director Dr. K. M. M. Somarathna, Nursing Officer (NICU) S. W. A. F. Senani, Special Grade Nursing Officer T. K. P. P. Dias, and Medical Officer Dr. M. A. T. I. Wickramasinghe.
Designed to deliver high standards of safety and comfort, Baby Cheramy newborn diapers are suitable even for the delicate needs of preterm babies, reinforcing the brand’s focus on infant hygiene and wellbeing from the earliest stages of life, particularly within critical care environments.
Commenting on the initiative, Shiyan Jayaweera stated, “The project, including the NICU diaper support, reflects Baby Cheramy’s long-standing purpose of creating a safer world through better access, education and solutions for holistic childcare for Sri Lankan mothers and babies. For over six decades, the brand has supported new mothers with trusted products and educational initiatives that promote better baby care and child-rearing practices.”
Meanwhile, Dr. Somarathne Konara highlighted the positive impact of the collaboration, stating that the initiative and NICU diaper donation have significantly improved the hospital experience for expectant parents and visitors. He further noted that the informative signage provides practical guidance while supporting new mothers in key areas of maternal and infant care.
