Potential German foreign direct investors are expected to visit Sri Lanka later this month as the country hosts the German Business Forum 2026, according to the Board of Investment of Sri Lanka.
The forum is scheduled to take place in Colombo from May 27 to 29 and is expected to bring together policymakers from both countries, business leaders, institutional stakeholders and prospective German investors.
Describing the event as an important economic platform, the Board of Investment of Sri Lanka said the forum is aimed at strengthening economic partnerships and creating new investment opportunities between Sri Lanka and Germany.
In preparation for the event, Martin Klose, Chief Delegate of the Delegation of German Industry and Commerce in Sri Lanka, recently met with Sulakshana Jayawardena to discuss arrangements and opportunities linked to the forum.
Sri Lankas trade relationship with Germany continues to be largely driven by the textile, apparel and rubber sectors, which account for a substantial share of exports to the German market.
German investment in Sri Lanka has also remained resilient despite periods of economic volatility, with major German companies representing more than 300 brands maintaining operations in sectors including logistics, precision engineering and renewable energy.
The economic relationship between the two countries is further supported through institutions such as the Delegation of German Industry and Commerce in Sri Lanka and the Sri Lanka-Germany Business Council, which continue to facilitate joint ventures, trade partnerships and technology transfer initiatives.
