Medihelp Hospitals, one of Sri Lanka’s fastest-growing healthcare providers, has continued its expansion journey with the opening of its newest branch in Kiribathgoda, marking another milestone in bringing quality and accessible healthcare closer to communities.
The latest addition reinforces Medihelp’s commitment to expanding affordable, high-quality healthcare services, particularly in underserved areas. Having already strengthened its presence across the Colombo and Kalutara districts, the Kiribathgoda branch represents a strategic expansion into the northern corridor of Colombo, catering to a rapidly growing population with increasing healthcare demands.
Kiribathgoda, a thriving commercial and residential hub that has long lacked a comprehensive private healthcare facility, was identified as an ideal location for the expansion. The new branch offers a complete range of healthcare services under one roof, including OPD, ETU, channeling, laboratory diagnostics, radiology, ultrasound scanning and echocardiography.
Designed with a strong focus on patient comfort and operational efficiency, the facility delivers a seamless and modern healthcare experience aligned with Medihelp’s patient-centric standards.
The facility was recently inaugurated at a ceremony attended by distinguished guests, including Dr. Upali Pannilage and Dr. Sandun Yapa Karunaratna. Members of Medihelp’s Board of Directors, senior management and invited guests were also present, marking another significant milestone in the group’s growth journey.
A key highlight of the event was an address by Leslie Wijesiriwardana, who reflected on the organisation’s beginnings. He noted that the Medihelp concept was first established in Kiribathgoda as a diagnostic laboratory in 1979 before relocating to Horana in 1985, making the new branch a meaningful return to its roots.
“We are proud to open a Medihelp branch in Kiribathgoda, the very place where our journey began,” said Chandika Wijesiriwardana. “We believe quality healthcare should not be limited by geography. It must be accessible, convenient and available when people need it most. This new facility ensures individuals and families can access reliable and timely medical care closer to home.”
The expansion into Kiribathgoda also reflects a broader growth strategy. Medihelp Hospitals is actively exploring opportunities to strengthen its presence across the Gampaha district, including plans to expand into underserved towns such as Kadawatha.
Through this approach, the group aims to build a connected healthcare network that improves accessibility and convenience for communities across the region. By bringing healthcare services closer to where people live and work, Medihelp seeks to reduce travel time, minimise associated costs and redefine quality healthcare as a necessity rather than a privilege.
As Sri Lanka’s healthcare landscape continues to evolve, Medihelp Hospitals remains committed to its core mission of making high-quality healthcare accessible to every individual. With the launch of its Kiribathgoda branch, the group reaffirms its dedication to building a healthier and more connected society.
