In a landmark initiative aimed at strengthening cultural ties between Sri Lanka and Germany, F Entertainment, a subsidiary of Fairway Holdings, has entered into a strategic partnership with the Delegation of German Industry and Commerce in Sri Lanka (AHK Sri Lanka) to host one of the country’s most authentic German Oktoberfest celebrations.
The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed at the AHK Sri Lanka office in Colombo, in the presence of H.E. Dr. Felix Neumann, Ambassador of Germany to Sri Lanka and the Maldives. The event is scheduled to take place from 14th to 17th October in Colombo, promising an immersive Bavarian experience unlike anything previously seen in Sri Lanka.
The “AHK Sri Lanka Oktoberfest by Fairway” marks the first Oktoberfest in Sri Lanka to be organised in direct collaboration with a German institution. The festival will feature an original oompah band from Germany, currently on a world tour with performances across Bangkok, Ho Chi Minh City, Da Nang, and Hanoi.
Festival-goers can look forward to an energetic atmosphere inspired by Munich’s iconic beer halls, featuring traditional Bavarian cuisine including freshly baked pretzels, crispy schnitzels, and a variety of sausages, paired with premium beers. The experience will be further enhanced by lively oompah music, vibrant festival décor, and the warm spirit of celebration that defines Oktoberfest.
Virath de Alwis, Chairman of Fairway Holdings, stated, “We are honoured to partner with the Delegation of German Industry and Commerce in Sri Lanka to bring an authentic German Oktoberfest experience to Colombo. This collaboration reflects our vision of positioning Colombo as a vibrant hub for unique cultural experiences and international exchange. Fairway has always been committed to creating memorable city experiences, and this event continues that journey by delivering exceptional value to both locals and visitors.”
He further added, “Fairway has successfully hosted Oktoberfest celebrations in the past, and we are excited to return with what we believe will be the most authentic edition yet.”
Chief Delegate of AHK Sri Lanka, Martin Klose, noted, “This partnership is a great example of how cultural exchange can deepen the relationship between our two countries. Oktoberfest is a cherished German tradition, and we are delighted to share it with the people of Sri Lanka.”
The “AHK Sri Lanka Oktoberfest by Fairway” is expected to attract both local audiences and international visitors, further strengthening Colombo’s position as a growing cultural tourism destination in South Asia.
