In a historic achievement for Sri Lanka, Abdul Razak M. Muzammil has become the first Sri Lankan to be awarded the globally recognised CAMA˛ (Certified Asset Management Assessor) certification, setting a new benchmark for professional excellence in the country’s infrastructure and asset management sector.
The CAMA2 designation, awarded by World Partners in Asset Management (WPiAM), is considered one of the most advanced credentials in asset management. It reflects high-level expertise in ISO 55000 standards, asset lifecycle planning, risk-based decision-making, and organisational asset performance evaluation.
This milestone comes at a time when asset management is gaining global importance, driven by rapid infrastructure growth, smart city development, and increasing demand for sustainable and data-driven operational systems. In regions such as the Middle East, where large-scale infrastructure projects, airports, and smart city initiatives are expanding rapidly, demand for CAMA2-certified professionals has significantly increased to ensure long-term value and operational efficiency.
For Sri Lanka as well, this achievement signals a meaningful shift. As the country advances infrastructure, energy, transport, and public service development, internationally aligned asset management frameworks such as ISO 55000 are becoming increasingly essential. Muzammil’s certification therefore represents not only a personal milestone but also a reflection of Sri Lanka’s growing engagement with global best practices in infrastructure management.
