CEAT Kelani Holdings has strengthened its position in Sri Lanka’s two-wheeler tyre market with the launch of its new X5 series—comprising the premium motorcycle tyre range GRIPP and scooter tyre range ZOOM. The new products are engineered to deliver higher mileage, enhanced safety, and superior performance for modern riding conditions.
The X5 series addresses the growing demand among urban commuters and younger riders for tyres that combine durability, control, and confident handling with a bold, premium design aesthetic. Developed specifically for Sri Lankan road and weather conditions, GRIPP X5 and ZOOM X5 aim to enhance everyday commuting and leisure riding through improved stability, grip, and braking performance on both dry and wet surfaces.
Commenting on the launch, Shamal Gunawardene, Chief Operating Officer of CEAT Kelani Holdings, said the new range reflects the company’s focus on evolving rider expectations in Sri Lanka’s two-wheeler market. He noted that as riding patterns shift and demand grows for higher performance, safety, and premium styling, the X5 series delivers engineering solutions aligned with both global standards and local road conditions.
The ZOOM X5 tyre, designed for front-wheel fitment, is optimised for stability and precise handling. Its continuous centre groove enhances straight-line control, while optimised angular grooves improve water dispersion, resulting in better traction on wet surfaces. Additional shoulder grooves and knurling further enhance stability during leaning, offering improved confidence in traffic and cornering situations. A high-grip tread compound and integrated sipes ensure strong traction on dry roads, supporting consistent performance across varied conditions.
The GRIPP X5 tyre, developed for rear-wheel applications, focuses on traction, load control, and durability. A larger centre block improves straight-line grip, while reinforced shoulder blocks with diamond knurling enhance control during leaning. Specially designed angular grooves help reduce aquaplaning risk, improving wet-road safety, while a high-grip compound ensures strong dry-road performance. Together, these features support higher mileage, stable high-speed handling, and reliable braking, making it suitable for both daily commuting and longer rides.
Beyond performance, both tyre ranges feature enhanced sidewall and tread aesthetics, including tessellation patterns and shoulder window designs that give motorcycles and scooters a distinctive, premium appearance. The combination of visual appeal and functional engineering reinforces CEAT’s positioning as a brand delivering performance with style.
